I changed my mind a dozen times trying to solve this mystery. 😁😁 I highly recommend you read this story and like I will be doing continue on to the next book in this series. I really enjoyed reading this book. Knef is really good at grabbing your interest right from the start. I couldn't put it down.
This was a total waste of time. The author needs to take some classes in creative writing and pay attention to such items as characterization, plotting, angle of narration, and dialogue. The settings were not convincing so this essential element did not do a good job of setting the scene. The only character I cared for was the cook! Instead of reading Zane Grey, I recommend Louis L'Amour. His knowledge of western lore made a huge difference. This book simply told a story and anyone can do that.

Enjoyed the book, the ending surprised me but was pleasing so that I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I am not a reader of western books. I read dramas as a rule and science fiction. It was a nice change.
"To Whistle a Dark Horse" was certainly well written and a pleasure to read. Quick paced, action filled and interesting, it was difficult to put the book down, always wondering what was going to happen next. I am new to Western's but found E. K. Knef's book so refreshing that I am looking forward to the next book in this series which will be available shortly.
I really enjoyed this book. A lot of twists and turns. A strong story line, and I realized all the people, though very sad with the loss of Sean, and cried when I thought Cole died.
A wonderful beginning to an awesome series. I already read book 2 and book 3. I had to go back to read this one and happy I did. Each book pulls you into the story from the beginning. I fell in love with Reason and Cole, the two main characters in the first 3 books. Well written, a creative storyline, and characters you want to continue to follow. Now, ahead to book 4. JudyE
